Deja Vu is only a theory

Looking around at all the people brought him slight amusement. With this town under his undying protection, he felt a bit like a guardian. While he was annoyed by the ignorance of humans, his position brought him great joy. Ryan was a black sheep hidden among the white. He fell backwards from the chapel into a haystack.

Its so peaceful today.

The town was too lively for my needs, and of course crowded out of unreasonable thoughts. My mask hid my face as I stood at my small stand on the edge of town, selling my clay made masks.

Ah... So little business today..

As a girl passed him by, he wondered in her direction. She seemed to be fully dressed. A mask upon her face covered the last traces of her. Ryan followed the wolf girl for a bit.

Moving through the people, I tried to get to a better corner. As I saw one near the main square, I carefully set up my masks for display.

"Hey! You can't set up on our corner!"

A puppeteer and his crew shouted at me, rolling their theatre box up to the corner I resided in.

"Uh oh..."

Noticing the puppeteer giving her a hard time, Ryan sped over to him and whispered in his ear. The man nodded and Ryan slipped him a coin for his troubles. He then turned to her and continued to look curiously.

"Why do you have all those clothes on in this heat, Wolf Girl?"

"U-Uh..."

Knowing he had just saved me from having to deal with the puppeteer, I had no idea how to respond.

"I-I... It... Um..."

Standing there, I could only stammer as I looked at him.

All this mumbling was odd to him. He knew humans were dense, but this was just a bit much. He sided with giving her the benefit of the doubt. This was because of his fascination of her. She was different, much like he was.

"You're already nervous? I would hate to see how you react to rude beings."

"I-I don't handle them well.. If you hadn't have stepped in...I would've ran, honestly."

Staring down at my feet in shame, I began to knead my clay.

Stupid Dare... C'mon, he just saved your business!

"Ah... I'm sorry. I'm Dare Styll, thank you for helping me out."

"Helping is all the thanks I need. However, most people are not as polite as you. You are too nice."

He walked towards her as he talked. She looked nervous. It was almost like she was out of place.

Maybe she is foreign...?

"Ah, manners always help make peace, non?"

I watched as he slowly came closer, and a feeling settled in the pit of my stomach.

Dare, don't you dare run. He doesn't mean harm, and you know that.

Swallowing my fear, I tilted my chin up, and looked him steadily in the eyes.

Ryan was in reach of her before he examined her thoroughly. So many clothes... He didn't see the praise in it. It was scorching here. Which reminded him that moving seemed appealing. But that was not the situation at hand.

"The 'please' before the 'don't kill me' doesn't usually change minds. You never answered my question."

"Q-Question?"

Gritting my ethereal teeth, I looked up at him. He was a good nine inches taller than me, but I wouldn't let that intimidate me. Steeling myself, I put my hands on my hips, before swallowing.

Shhhhhhhit. Dare, what are you getting yourself into..

Hm... this is new. What to expect of her?

Her tone was changed, while nervous, she was brave. He matched her posture easily. He asked the question again.

"Why are you wearing so many clothes, Wolf Girl?"

"Maybe it's becase I-I'm s-shy!"

Clenching my fists, I narrowed my eyes up at him, huffing.

Maybe he thinks that I can FEEL... Which.. Isn't true. Plus.. A lot of people aren't wearing as much clothing as I am... Which... would mean that it'd be 'hot' to them.. And that... I'm out of place.

Frowning, I realized my mistake.

Her brace loosened after her outburst. He looked at her curiously. She was odd, and seemed to have emotion flares. It was mildly intimidating. He stared then turned his back with crossed arms.

"Don't let me stop you then."

"Fine!"

Grumpily, I began to put my masks back into my bag, furious. When they were all packed, I looked back at him, before huffing angrily.

How dare he! I didn't ask for his help, he helps me, and then he asks why I'm out of place! Well.. I probably would have too, but regardless! How dare he!

Walking away, more like stomping, I heard a clatter. Wincing, I looked back to see my black and red wolf mask on the ground.

"Ah..."

Remembering why I had chosen this corner in the first place, my heart softened.

Stupid Dare...

Ryan felt a bit of guilt. He peaked over his shoulder just in time to see the mask fall. He walked over to pick up the pieces. It was his fault this happened...

"I am so sorry."

"Ah.. No.."

Gently I bent down, before holding my hand over the pieces. Deciding he deserved some sign of appreciation, I let my magic meld the clay pieces together again, before handing him the mask. Letting my eyes show my hope for his secrecy, it was up to him whether not to accept and take the mask, or reject and have me burned for witchcraft.

Ah.. Why did I have to do that...

Not human... Well it makes sense now.

He flashed his fangs at her with a sly smile before pressing his lips and winking. He smiled at her and whispered.

"Your secret is safe with me."

Surprise flared through me, causing my form to flux. My gloves ripped a little, and I just stared at him wide eyed.

Whispering, I couldn't hide the shock in my voice.

"Y-You're a.. Vampire?"

He smiled at her without erecting his canines this time. She surely was an odd one, but he liked it. For a second, he saw the split in her clothing glow. Curious as ever, he reached to touch it.

"Don't act so surprised, Wolf Girl. What are you?"

"I.. I'm Sicarian.."

Facinated, I let him touch my ripped glove before gently pulling back his upper lip.

How curious...

Reaching up with my other hand, I made him smile broadly.

Her hand was in his mouth, besides the low sound of cloth scraping his teeth, he didnt mind much. He was too fascinated by the glow emitting from her body. Through her hands, he spoke.

"Ihm Noh Swor Wha Da Izz."

He found it hard to form words.

"It's a race made at the beginning of ti-Are these hollow?"

I tilted his head up, leaning against him to view his fangs more. Utterly facinated, I poked one.

OW!

Pain flared through me, and I was shocked. Nothing ever made me feel that way, and alarm hit me.

"W-what???"

He winced as he saw here finger pierced by his tooth. With her hand gone, he could talk clearly.

"I am so sorry. You may have a numb feeling soon. Don`t fight it. My fangs are filled with a non lethal toxin."

He looked at her in worry. He messed up...
