Going Crazy.

"I see outlines of things.... If it isn't too bright. And I see life energy. Your soul, if you would."

Setting him down gently, I kept one hand on his back.

"Besides. My other scents are doubled the regular vampire. I have to exercise control over how sensitive my hearing and smelling is. Not to mention touch and other things. I'm quite tender if I'm not in battle."

Frowning, I looked ahead of me.

"A curse of my transformation, I think."

"Ahh, so you have hardened battle senses? You see, i numb my senses for the win. Mostly the sense of feeling. I dont just drink for fun you know."

He smiled and chuckled as he left his information.

I nodded my head slowly.

"I can't get drunk."

Shrugging I winced when the sun peaked over the buildings.

"Ow..."

"Sunlight isnt the best thing for you right now. And the thing about getting drunk, why drink it then?"

He took off his jacket and covered her with it. He felt a headache from the light.

Hiding under the jacket, I sighed quietly.

"I like the taste of alcohol. Scotch helped me stay away from humans... In my turned days, I would massacre them for fun. Drain them dry. Demand sacrifices from the Mayans....."

I kept up a list of Indian tribes and superstitious frenchmen who worshipped my pale skin and sharp fangs.

"But when they lost belief, I moved on. About.... 6? Hundred years ago, I changed. Annnd... Yeah."

"That sounds like a change for the better. There are already too many evil monsters in the world that we know now. We accept it as normal. But it is not."

He continued to walk with her in whatever direction she decided to lead.

"Honestly. I stopped wars like that too."

Shrugging, I kept up, before realizing we were in front of my hotel instead of his home.

"God... Dammit!"

"Is this your home? It doesnt really look like mine."

Then again, I could just be dreaming. Or wasted...

"I don't have a home. It's my hotel."

Frowning, I looked up at the building.

"See the room with the black blanket on the windows? That's mine."

Pointing one out in the southern corner, I sighed.

"Tried to get her to give me a windowless, but it turns out no hotel here has windowless rooms. So, I'm stuck with the best option- Single window facing south."

"Then go inside. Im safer in light than you are. I can make it home with no worries. No one messes with a Muscle Rider."

He gave a giant smile as he stumbled a bit. He caught himself and gave a thumbs up in approval to the idea.

"No.... I think you should go inside as well."

Frowning, I grabbed his wrist before guiding him inside and up the flights of stairs, catching him when he fell.

He only stumble a few times until he came to the stairs which gave him more trouble than he expected. He did his best to stay afoot.

"Just... be careful. Im pretty heavy."

"If I can lift a ton, I can lift you. Don't worry about it. I'm old but not useless, haha."

Smiling, I helped him up before leading him into my room. The window was blacked out, and the floor nearly invisible.

"You keep it dark in here all the time, or just when youre gone? How can you see in this?"

He gave out a loud yawn sounding much like the roar of an animal that roams the plains of the sahara.

"My eyes are not quite like yours. However, if you wish to see..."

I used a small amount of elemental magic to light a flame on the candle near the bed- the extent of my flames.

He yawned again and stretched out on the floor.

"I think i will just rest a bit. Feel free to change the lighting to your will. I it is your house after all..."

He gave a quiet chuckle.

"There's a bed, you know."

Frowning at the figure laying on my floor, I went over to the closet to get him a blanket.

"Feel free to use it, since I can't."

"Why can't you?"

He asked curiously. While intelligence was never his strong suit, he was always one to ask questions.

"I'm a vampire haunted by my past. Instead of sleeping, I rest in the Astral Realm. Which... Requires sitting up. So normally I just sit against a wall. Feel free, as I said, to use it."

I took off my jacket, leaving on shorts and a tank top made out of dyed leather.

"If you grow hungry, I can easily pay for any meal."

"That's fine. I have more money than i have weight. But thank you for the offer. For the bed, ill sleep on the floor. Would feel strange sleeping in your bed."

He took off his coat and used it as a makeshift pillow.

"At least take the pillows... Goose down. And honestly, it's not my bed. I've never even used it for anything but laying my weapons down on it."

Shaking my head, I sat beside one of the windows, and rested the back of my head against the wall. Unlacing my boots, I took off my shoes.

"If you insist, then I will sleep there..."

Knowing she wouldnt give up with the offer of kindness, he lied in the bed. He wrapped his arm around the pillow in a near cuddling fashion. Oddly, he wasnt tired.

I waited a good thirty minutes for his breathing to sign that he was asleep. Whenever it didn't, I got up and went to stand behind him, crossing my arms.

"Can you not sleep, Rider?"

Letting him respond was the best I could do at this time, but something felt off to me.

"It seems i can't."

Not even the whiskey can put me to sleep anymore.
He was tempted by revealing more about himself to her. Over a few seconds, he gave in.

"To be honest, the alcohol no longer affects me, i pretend it does. I can't sleep anymore. I'm not sure why."

"I see..."

I climbed on the bed, before sitting next to him.

"If my venom were stronger, I would bite you and let that help. Sadly, it only seems to make you stumble. Were there any events before this that could have resulted in insomnia?"
